Getting Started

I saw her at the bus stop the next day and the day after that and almost every day. I had started waking up early because of her as I didn’t want to miss seeing her any day. I reached the bus stop well before 8 and skipped most of my buses if she was not there by then. I made it a point to see her everyday. She stood at the bus stop all alone. No one ever accompanied her. Other people from her company would be there but she hardly spoke to them. A month passed and one day I decided to talk to her. I reached the bus stop and stood waiting for her to come. I kept looking in the direction from where she came everyday and also kept throwing glances on my watch. It was 8:15 now and she was not there. It was time and my last bus was coming. I wanted to wait but couldn’t miss my bus. Sadly I got onto the bus and left. All the way I kept thinking why she didn’t come. Formed my own assumptions: May be she was unwell. But she looked fine yesterday. May be she’s on vacation for some days. May be she’ll go to office late. So on and so forth the mind kept on presuming things. Failing to arrive at a consensus I decided to wait till tomorrow. May be she’ll be there tomorrow. And then I can talk to her. I waited for her the next day and the day after that and many days after that. But she never came. Everyday I stood there waiting for her and she never came.
Was this the end? Will I ever be able to see her again? I was sad. I saw her face when I closed my eyes at night. Weeks passed and it was almost a month since I had seen her. I wished I could see her again. But I didn’t know how. I knew nothing about her apart from the company where she worked. May be it was not meant to be. And after all she was just another girl I saw everyday. There was no big deal in it. We come across many people everyday may be she was just one among the crowd. I cajoled myself and in a few days forgot all about her.
It was one of those sucker days at work and to top it a MONDAY!!!!!!!!! After a tiring day I was on my way back home and as it has to be the traffic increased the time required to reach the destination exponentially. I rolled down the window pane for some breeze and saw another bus stuck in the traffic right next to mine. Someone rolled down the window pane right opposite me in that bus. And I saw her again.

The day I saw her...

7:00 am: Gosh!!!!!!!! The alarm rang at its usual time today also and unable to bear its ringing sound I snoozed it. Pulled the blanket over my face to avoid the sunlight and dozed off for 5 more minutes. But the alarm was in no mood to let me enjoy my siesta and it started shouting again. I finally killed it and saw the time. I realized a little later that I was doing this procedure since last 20 mins. So it meant I was late. I dragged myself out of the bed and hurriedly got ready since I did not want to miss my 8:00 am bus. I reached my bus stop and was still half asleep even after pouring a bucketful of water over my head. It was the month of April but the sun shone like May and I could see people packed together under a small shady tree. I considered myself “Jaadu” and stood in the sun taking in my daily dose of Vitamin D. The bus that usually arrives before time when I am late was no where to be seen today. My capacity of taking in Vitamin D exceeded its usual limits and soon started trickling down my forehead. I glanced at all the people who were fighting for some space under the tree to see if I could accommodate myself among them. Bu the look that those who stood in the shade gave me was somewhat similar to Shoaib Akhtar‘s when Sachin hit his ball towards the boundary line. So I decided that I would prefer to let the excess Vitamin D flow out my body.
8:15 am and a bus arrived. It was so jam packed that I dared not to get into it. I still stood in the sun and looked around. Just a fraction of a second had passed and the people under the tree were replaced by new ones. Whiling away my time waiting for another bus to come I noticed someone. A girl was trying to cross the street and she was juggling with a lot of stuff in her hands. A handbag, a tiffin bag, a newspaper, her company id card, a cell phone, a clutcher to pin her hair…God !!!!!! How do girls manage all this? I looked at myself and I had nothing in my hand except my id card and that too I hung around my neck. She had her face covered with a maroon scarf and only her eyes were visible. She waited for a long time and finally when the traffic eased a bit she crossed the road and stood right next to me. It was then that I noticed she had green eyes and she had applied a silver kohler that made her eyes look wonderful. Somehow she managed to put all the stuff she had in her hands into her hand bag. I wonder how expandable a girl’s handbag is. It accommodates almost anything and everything into it. I gave her a quick glance .Her eyes looked lovely and I thought how people can cover their full face with a scarf so early in the morning. Why can’t they just let some free vitamin D reach their body? J I smiled at my own thought and looked in the opposite direction to see if the bus would make it today but there were no signs of any bus coming. I kept glancing at my watch and also the girl who stood next to me. She wore a perfume that smelt like fresh roses. Don’t know why I was keen to see her face. The sun was so bright that it was becoming unbearable to stand even for a second plus the humidity made the climate worse. As I stood wiping the sweat from my forehead I saw the girl removing her scarf. Her hair was not tied as it was wet when suddenly the wind flew her hair onto her face. I was not able to see her face. She neatly folded the scarf and put it into her bag and took an umbrella out. As she opened the umbrella she flipped her hair in the direction of the wind and I saw her face. For a few seconds I just kept staring at her. She was fair, very fair in fact; her skin sparkled like gold in the sun. She wore a red suit with matching sandals (not to forget matching watch and bangle as wellJ). Her hair was long enough and she had a lovely mole on her lower lip and that mole increased her beauty by manifolds. Her beauty was mesmerizing.
As I managed to come to my senses I saw my bus coming. She was still waiting for her bus to come. I tried to peek into her id card but managed to see TCS written on it and nothing else. I cursed my bus as it stopped in front of me and wished if it were full so that I could stand some more time with her. Alas!!!!!! It didn’t happen. The bus was almost emptyL. With a heavy heart I got into the bus and took a window seat and glanced at her. All I wished was I see her tomorrow as well. And I could wait at the bus stop for ages for this.
